Udaipur also referred as Lake City or City of Lakes founded in 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh a Sisodia Rajput King and father of Great warrior Maharana Pratap.
City is relatively young by Indian Standards but rich in preservation of natural beauty , culture and tradition,

  1. Lake Pichola Udaipur

Lake Pichola is an artificial lake about 4km length and 3 km wide which was created in year 1362 AD by the local tribes also known as Banjara during the reign of Maharana Lakha to meet the need of drinking water and for irrigation purpose and to transport grain .Name Pichola is derived from the name of the same nearby village which surrounded the Lake “Picholi”.

Average depth of this lake is 4.32 meter (14.2 Ft) maximum depth 8.5 meter (about 28ft).

This Lake consist of Four island Jagniwas (also known as Pichola Palace Udaipur or Lake Palace Udaipur) and Jagmandir, Arsi Vilas and Mohan Mandir which was first built by Maharana Udai Singh II of Sisodia Rajput and thereby further developed by Maharana Karan Singh and his son Maharana Jagat singh.

2. Lake Palace – Jag Niwas

Jag Niwas also known as “Lake palace Udaipur” is now considered as one of the premium luxury hotel with 83 rooms and honeymoon suites, royal suites, whole palace is constructed with White marble.

Udaipur lake Palace or Jag Niwas , Jagat Niwas was built by Maharana jagat Singh II facing east direct to the sun where they can offer their prayers directly to Sun  and so the name Jagniwas was derived from here.

Situated in heart of the Udaipur city this Lake palace Udaipur or Jagat niwas is easily accessible from airport about 25km and 3km from Indian Railways and bus stand.

Jagat Niwas now turned hotel is also been voted for one of the most romantic place in India and in world. A must visit for and without which udaipur tourism will just not be complete enough.Hotel Lake Palace runs a speed boat service to transport their guest to hotel.

3. Jagmandir Island

Jagmandir Island is a palace situated in the Lake Pichola also known as “Lake garden palace”.

This palace was built by Maharana Karan Singh (One of the Maharanas of Sisodia Rajput’s of Mewar kingdom) in 1620 after Maharana Karana Singh, Maharana Jagat Singh continued the legacy and added more to this beautiful Jagmandir palace.

One should actually see the beauty of this Palace at night when it lit up makes a romantic ambience , one side of entrance is bound by stone elephant and well carved bluestone Gul Mahal, a beautiful garden great scenic view of the lake make this palace much more heritage and one of the best honeymoon places in India

4. City Palace Udaipur

City palace Udaipur was built around 400 years ago by Maharana Udai Singh II when he escaped safely from chittorgarh, situated in the east bank of Lake Pichola became the former and last capital of Mewar. One can see a beautiful mix of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture here.

Beautiful balconies, extravagent room decorated with mirrors, paintings and museum which has huge collection of artefacts, weapons , protective gears , lethal.
